High's Helpers We are off to a great start in room 106. Our class has been actively getting to know one another, learning our classroom rules, and transitioning into an environment that is filled with many little hands. The kids have been working on the letters Aa through Kk and busy counting their 123's. Our goal is to count to 100. We've sung some familiar songs and learned a few new songs...together we are making music. So far this year, the kid's favorite songs are “Who Stole the Cookie From the Cookie Jar” and “Twinkle, Twinkle Hanukkah Lights”. The kids also love dancing to the “Hokey Pokey” and “The Freeze Dance”. During December we created holiday books, made some amazing holiday gifts for our parents, toyed with some of the holiday favorites and got our hands dirty with a little flour, butter and egg so that we could get started with a bit of holiday baking. We even had a special visitor by the name of Bell. Bell was a female reindeer who was 1 year old. Make sure to check out our pictures posted outside our classroom door. The classes celebrated the holiday with a party and some cheer.
Currently we are gearing up for winter. We will discuss arctic animals, snow, ice and all the fun things that one would do with all that cold stuff. The class will take a week to learn about the jungle and all the fun animals lurking in there. On our way out of the jungle we will stop off in Teddy Bearville...start looking for your favorite teddy to bring to school. As we exit Teddy Bearville we will prepare for our final destination that will take us into February...Space. So let's get ready to blast off into 2012 and see what awaits us.
As you can see, we are busy little bodies in room 106.
Please remember that comments and questions are always welcome.
Have a great month, Mrs. High Mrs. High's Reminders MWF CD4 Parent VolunteersI have posted the sign-up sheet for any parents that would like to volunteer in the classroom on Monday's, Wednesday's, or Friday's during the month of February or March. The volunteer time is from 9:00-9:45/1:00-1:45 and we recommend only one parent per am or pm slot. You must have an approved background check on file with the Children's Garden Office in order to volunteer in the classroom. Please see me if you have any questions or want to check and see if your background check was approved.
Thanks, Kelley High Teddy Bear ParadeOn Thursday, January 26 and Friday January 27, the CD3 and CD4 classes will be having it's annual Teddy Bear Parade. The children are welcome to bring in their favorite teddy bear ( or any other cuddly stuffed friend) they might have. We will parade down the hallway and through the Children's Garden classrooms at 9:15/1:15. Parents are more than welcome to stick around and watch our parade of stuffed friends.
The MWF CD4 classes will have the opportunity to where their pajamas to school for the event, if they would like. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks, Kelley High Winter Outside PlayPlease bring your child dressed with the appropriate attire for outside play on Monday's and Tuesday's, if your child is a student of room 106. We will be going outside at either 9 AM or 1 PM. I would recommend bringing your child dressed for the great outdoors if the temperature outdoors is 20 degrees or above (wind chill included). If it is below 20 degrees we will follow our normal posted gym time. I'm sure that everyone is used to living in Michigan and how ever-changing the weather can be. Please make sure the kids have hats, gloves, warm coats, snow pants, and boots if needed. One minute it can be nice outside and the next it's not. It is very important that students items are labeled. Many children can have identical clothing or items can be placed in the wrong locker by accident. Please make sure to check the Grand Blanc School Fusion Page for current weather temps.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation, Kelley High Family PhotoI am requesting all my new and returning families to supply one 4X6 or 6X4 family photo. I have a tree in my classroom that is always changing...just like the seasons. I would love to start the year off with a giant family tree. The kids love having their families on the wall. The pictures also give us something fun to talk about and it's a great way for everyone to get to know one another.
You can bring your picture to the open house or on the first day of school. Thanks for your support, Kelley High |
Class Links Make your own tracer pages, so that your child can practice printing his/her name. Print off sheets that will help assist your child with an important fine motor skill. You will have the opportunity to choose straight, wavy or zig-zag pages for them to practice with. Have fun:) |
